The Difference Between Rebuildable and Regular Vape Tanks
When looking at vape tanks your main choices will be rebuildable tanks (RDAs and RTAs) and regular MTL and DTL tanks. The main difference between rebuildable vape tanks (Rebuildable Dripping Atomisers and Rebuildable Tank Atomisers) and regular vape tanks (Mouth to Lung and Direct to Lung) is the coil setup. Your choice of vape tank depends if you are new to vaping or on how much time you have available to work on your tank.
If you are new to the world of vaping or don’t have a large amount of time to build and switch coils around, MTL and DTL tanks will most likely be your best option. MTL and DTL tanks virtually operate the same. They both use a cylindrical atomiser, also known as a coil head or filter that attaches to your tank. You will need to replace these about every 2 weeks depending on usage.
Enclosed in these atomisers is a wire or mesh coil wrapped with cotton wick. Changing atomisers or coil heads on regular vape tanks is a straight forward process. The old atomiser is removed and you then attach the replacement.
However, if you are more experienced and have a few more minutes to spend building and replacing your coils, RDAs and RTAS may be an option that provides a superior vaping experience with more flavour. They can also save you some money in the long run and are more efficient, which can help save your battery.
With RDAs and RTAs, the entire tank acts as the atomiser and there is a building deck that has posts for a wire or mesh coil. The vaper has to manually apply the coil and then thread the cotton wicking through the loops. This process is lengthy but the coils can be maintained and will last longer, only the cotton wicking needs to be re-done around every 2 weeks.
RDAs and RTAs are great for flavour chasers. This is because the entire tank is acting as the atomiser and there is much better airflow around the coil while vaping. The increased efficiency of the coil means you can run your mod at a lower wattage, saving your battery life.
You can take advantage of RDAs and RTAs if you are an advanced or hobbyist vaper who has time to build and switch your coils. If you don’t have time, standard MTL and DTL tanks are quick and easy to change.
